The district is located between24.1344° N and 90.7860° E. Surrounded by Kishoreganj on the north, Brahmanbaria on the east, Narayanganj and Brahmanbaria on the south, and west of Gazipur, on the west, this district has a glorious ancient history. Recently, nearly 3,000 years old civilization was discovered in the name of the Asamrajar Gar in the Wari-Bateshwar area of Belabo Upazilla of the district. Besides, this district has a glorious history of the liberation war. In the eve of the great liberation war of 1971, the freedom fighters strongly resisted the place of the first invasion by the Pakistani force in the district of Panchdona in this district and started the war. An armory of the Pakistan Army and several junta soldiers were killed in this war.
